# Model Library

## **Overview**

**The model library** is the section of Photo Studio where you define reusable AI subjects, called *models,* that are referenced by scene presets to generate product imagery. A model encodes the consistent appearance of the subject (a person, animal, or custom entity) so that it looks the same across any number of generated images.

### Model Library Interface <a href="#model-library-interface" id="model-library-interface"></a>

| UI Element             | Description                                                     |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **+ New model** button | Opens the "Create model" dialog to start a new model definition |
| **Grid view** icon | Displays models as image cards (default) |
| **List view** icon | Displays models as a data table |
| **Settings** (⚙) icon | Configures visible columns in list view |
| **Show** selector | Sets how many models per page (default: 25) |
| **Page** navigator | Moves between pages of results |

Each model card in grid view shows the AI-generated preview image and the model name.

## Model Types <a href="#model-types" id="model-types"></a>

When clicking **+ New model**, you first select the **model type**. The type determines the available configuration steps.

| Model Type | Best for | Configuration steps |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------- |
| **Human** | Clothing, accessories, fashion. Offers structured configuration of demographics, face, hair, body, and personal details. | Identity → Face → Hair → Body → Details |
| **Animal** | Pet accessories, animal care products, lifestyle content featuring any animal species. | Identity → Appearance → Details |
| **Custom** | Any subject not fitting Human or Animal. Full free-form control, describe the model in plain language. | Identity → Model description |

### Visual Builder - When and How to Use It <a href="#visual-builder--when-and-how-to-use-it" id="visual-builder--when-and-how-to-use-it"></a>

The Visual builder is available for **Human** models in the **Face**, **Hair**, and **Body** steps. It is **not available** for Animal or Custom models.

| Behavior            | Detail                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Activation** | Click the "Visual builder" button next to the hint text "Select predefined styles instead of writing a manual description." |
| **Output** | Selecting options in the Visual builder auto-generates a text string in the description field (e.g., `Type: Oval. Skin tone: Porcelain. Eye color: Blue.`) |
| **Switching modes** | You can switch between Visual builder and free text at any time. The last-saved text is preserved in the description field. |
| **Overriding** | After using the Visual builder you can manually edit the generated text to add nuance the builder doesn't cover (e.g., `hooded eyelids`, `deep-set eyes`). |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://usermanual.ergonode.com/photo-studio/model-library.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
